The Stars Align for Covenant House Youth

For one special night, Broadway’s biggest stars came together for a musical evening of inspiration - truly an event like no other. With close to 1,000 attendees, Covenant House New York hosted A Night of Broadway Stars at Jazz at Lincoln Center.  Not only does the event draw needed support for the continued mission of Covenant House New York, but also celebrates the inspiring homeless youth who are now independent young adults and those still trying to find their way.

Moms Sleep Out!

On Friday, April 29, 130 New York and New Jersey women participated in Covenant House’s Sleep Out: Mothers Edition at the 41st CHNY shelter. The women slept out in solidarity with homeless youth, raising over $484,000 through their advocacy and fundraising efforts. The evening included 12 youth from CHNY and CHNJ speaking in small groups with our participants, giving attendees a chance to get to know our young people and our work.

29th Annual Lifeline Award Event

The 29th Annual Lifeline Award Event took place on Wednesday, April 27 at 6pm, at the Marriott Marquis, Time Square, to benefit our young people at Covenant House.  We celebrated, alongside over 460 guests, a year of extraordinary efforts by the Real Estate and Construction Industry.  With their dedication and the more than $350,00 raised this year, they will continue to make a tangible difference in the lives of homeless youth.

Mayor DeBlasio Announces Enhanced Services for Homeless Youth

At a press conference held at Covenant House New York, Mayor Bill de Blasio announced sweeping measures to enhance services for homeless youth, including the addition of 300 youth beds over the next three years. 

In addition to the 300 beds, the Mayor’s new initiatives include deployment of additional staff to coordinate services for youth entering the Department of Homeless Services’ shelters, and a pledge to work with the state to extend the length of stay for those in existing crisis beds to 90 days.
