Our Youth

Who We Serve

Covenant House New York has provided shelter to homeless youth for nearly fifty years. Since our founding, we’ve focused on providing a safe place to call home for all young people in need.

We serve a diverse group of young people between the ages of 16 and 24. We reach young people from all five boroughs of the city: Manhattan, Brooklyn, the Bronx, Queens, and Staten Island. We are proud to serve LGBTQ+ youth, working to provide every young person who comes through our doors with a place to call home.

The majority of individuals staying with us are people of color who have already experienced significant adversity in their young lives. Many of their stories include backgrounds of abuse, trauma and hardship. Homeless youth come to CHNY for a safe place to stay — and for access to the tools they need to overcome their histories and reach their full potential.
