Welcome to Covenant House New York’s Young Professional Associate Board. We are a group of dynamic, passionate, and dedicated young professionals who serve young people living at Covenant House. Over the last 7 years, the Associate Board has raised millions of dollars for kids.
The Associate Board is founded on four main pillars:
The Covenant House New York Associate Board is, first and foremost, a fundraising board. Each member is expected to fundraise a minimum of $2,000 annually (January – December). This amount can be raised by participating in Sleep Out, participating in our Spring Endurance Event, “Do-It-Yourself” fundraising projects, fundraising trips to Latin America (when available), personal contributions, employer matching and/or grants, and in-kind donations.
2. Sleep Out
Each member is expected to participate in, and recruit for, at least one Sleep Out every year. All Associate Board members are eligible to participate in the Sleep Out: Young Professional Edition, which us held every March. Additionally, Associate Board members may also be eligible to participate in other Covenant House Sleep Out Editions.
Each member is expected to participate in at least three Covenant House service activities annually. Service activities come in many forms, including but not limited to: a) Job Readiness Training, hosted by the ‘Cov Works’ vocational team, (b) Associate Board-hosted Monthly Service Activities, held once per month, and (c) Corporate Service Days, hosted by the ‘Cov Works’ vocational team in partnership with the Associate Board Member’s employer. Additionally, as Covenant House New York continues to serve young people in the safest, most effective way possible, Associate Board Members may be asked to complete certain volunteer trainings Covenant House New York administers throughout the year. In these cases, multiple trainings will be offered and appropriate notification will be given in advance.
*Due to COVID-19, we are unable to have in-person volunteer opportunities but are continuing to work on virtual opportunities for board members. We are looking forward to being able to continue these acts of service when we can safely be together in person again.*
4. Meeting Participation
Each member is expected to attend three Associate Board Meetings, held quarterly throughout the calendar year.
