Another one of our new Bronx sites opened on Avenue St. Johns in August! This site will serve as transitional housing as part of our R.O.P. program for mothers and children as well as single females.
The complex is essentially made of two duplexes, with moms and their children on the first two floors and single females on the third and fourth floors. Each bedroom in the single female program has between 1 and 3 twin beds and contain a free-standing, lockable closet, side table, tall mirror, and a white board for young people to keep their belongings. All bedrooms for the mother and child program accommodates a single family unit and includes a crib.
There are two full bathrooms with bathtubs on each floor, with at least one staff office on every floor and kitchenettes on the second and fourth floors of each program with a full kitchen and a common eating area. The first and third floors feature a large living room and lounge area with a huge sectional and TV for residents to spend their down time relaxing. There is also computer lab space available for each program and a basement with washer and dryer access.
The Avenue St. Johns site is in a quiet, residential neighborhood nearby many amenities such as pediatric healthcare facilities, supermarket, daycares, and a
beautiful playground and recreation area that includes a basketball court, handball court, skate-boarding terrain, jungle gyms, sprinklers, and picnic and chess tables.
